As her two-year term concludes, Debra Faith Kuhn reflects on her service as a student trustee at 黑暗爆料网. She gained insight into university governance, contributed student perspectives to board discussions, and built connections that will benefit her future.
The selection process for student trustees includes a formal application, interviews with the university president, and review by the Governor鈥檚 Office before appointment. Appointed student trustees serve a two-year, non-voting term, attending board meetings, joining university committees, and advocating for student interests.
During her term, Kuhn served on committees including Finance and Administration as well as Academic and Student Affairs. She gained firsthand experience in university decision-making and built relationships with board members, university leadership, and student affairs staff, providing her with a unique perspective on campus governance.
鈥淪erving as a student trustee has shown me the inner workings of a university and how decisions are made,鈥 Kuhn said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 been an incredible opportunity to learn, build relationships, and advocate for students in a meaningful way.鈥
As a middle childhood education major aspiring to become a school superintendent, Kuhn considers her trustee service a valuable opportunity to learn about governance and leadership. She plans to apply these skills in her future career.
鈥淭his experience will stay with me long after I graduate,鈥 Kuhn said. 鈥淚t strengthened my passion for educational leadership and confirmed my goal of becoming a superintendent one day. I am grateful for the support and mentorship I鈥檝e received from President Braun, the Board, and our campus community.鈥
As her term concludes in June 2026, Kuhn expresses gratitude for the opportunity to serve and hopes her efforts have encouraged greater student participation in shaping campus life.
