About
Dr. Anna Hutcheson is an Assistant Professor of Political Science in the Department of Social Sciences. She teaches classes in International Relations and Comparative Politics. Courses offered at SSU include: Introduction to International Relations, Introduction to Comparative Politics, Global Politics, and International Organizations and Law. She is interested in offering other classes in the field, such as: Human Rights, Political Violence, Politics of the European Union, and others.
She received her BA in Political Science and History from Indiana University South Bend (2014) and her PhD in Transnational Politics & Policy from Kent State University (2023).
Dr. Hutcheson's dissertation work focused on the International Criminal Court (ICC) trials of Jean-Pierre Bemba and Bosco Ntaganda, the first convictions for wartime rape at the ICC. Her research interests include political violence, international conflict & cooperation, international humanitarian & human rights law, and transnational social movements. Born and raised on a farm in rural Indiana, she is happy to be in Southern Ohio and is always looking for hiking trail recommendations and local attractions! She loves music, reading historical fiction, and all animals (especially the capybara).
